Electrification of Villages

Will the Minister of POWER be pleased to state:-
(a) whether inspite of Government announcement of 100 per cent electrification, numbers of villages in the country still are without electricity, if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether Assam Government has asked for electrification of more than lakhs of villages therein, if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether still 16 per cent of households in the country are without access of electricity, if so, the details thereof;

(d) the details of electrification of villages during the period 2006-2012 and 2011-2018; and

(e) the steps taken by the Government to achieve actual 100 per cent of electrification thereto?

ANSWER

(a) : As informed by the States, all the inhabited census villages across the country including Assam, stand electrified as on 28.04.2018.

(b) : No such report has been received from Government of Assam.

(c) : As reported by the States, there are 21.73 crore households in the country. Of these 20.79 crore households have been electrified as on 30.11.2018 and all the remaining 0.94 crore households are aimed for electrification by March, 2019.

(d) : As reported by the States, number of villages electrified including Intensive Electrification (IE) under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) and its Rural Electrification (RE) Component, during the financial year 2006-12 and 2011-18 is below:

(e) : Government of India have launched Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana –“Saubhagya” with the objective to achieve universal household electrification. The scheme envisages last mile connectivity and electricity connections to all remaining un-electrified households by 31st March, 2019.
