Test of Soil Samples

Will the Minister of AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE be pleased to state:-
(a) the break-up of soil samples that have been tested under the Soil Health Card Scheme till date in the country, State-wise;

(b) whether the scheme is successful in bringing down the input costs and increase in the production of crops; and

(c) if so, the details thereof?

(a): Break up of State-wise soil samples tested under the Soil Health Card Scheme is given at Annexure.

(b) & (c): Yes, Madam. As per study conducted by National Productivity Council (NPC), application of fertilizer and micronutrients based on Soil Health Card recommendations resulted in 8-10% of fertilizer savings. There is overall increase in the yield of crops to the tune of 5-6% by adopting the SHC recommendations.

Impact study conducted by MANAGE, Hyderabad indicated that there is reduction in Nitrogen based fertilizers and increase in bio-fertilizer and micro-nutrients use.
